CIWBA helps fund a scholarship for women to attend law school.

The scholarship is jointly funded by CIWBA and the Sangamon County Bar Association and is worth $2,000.  The scholarship is open to female college students or college graduates intending to go to law school, or women currently attending law school.  Additionally, applicants must have been a resident of the following central Illinois counties at the time of high school graduation:  Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Champaign, Christian, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Ford, Greene, Jersey, Livingston, Logan, Macon, McLean, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Moultrie, Piatt, Pike, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Vermilion, or Woodford.  CIWBA selects the scholarship recipient in even-numbered years, while the County Bar selects recipients in odd-numbered years.

2018 Scholarship Recipient:  Billie Saunders

Billie is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and a second year law student at SIU School of Law.  She is a member of the Women's Law Forum, the Hispanic Law Student Association, the Military Law Society, Phi Delta Phi, Women of Diversity, and the Black Law Student Association.  Billie works with the Domestic Violence Clinic at SIU and maintains a 3.1 GPA.
